G.I.F.T. is a Canadian NGO that has been providing free medical clinics for the Maya population in Guatemala since 10 years. The majority of the indigenous Maya we care for come from rural areas in the department of Sololá and about 60% of the patients are women, 35% are children and infants and 5% are men.
G.I.F.T. works together with local groups that help to coordinate good and effective medical clinics, permitting them to care for 2000 to 2500 patients every year.
The strong volunteer base existing of doctors, lawyers, nurses, accountants and teachers allows G.I.F.T. to work without overhead and spend 100% of donations on providing clinics.
