Help is needed after tropical storm Agatha hit Guatemala May 29th 2010. Next to international and national organizations there are local ONG’s active in providing help to the local community at Lake Atitlan.
These are grass root organizations active around Lake Atitlan. Apart from having the people and infrastructure right where the need is, they have been around for years and will be for many more.
Consider making a donation to one of the following organizations:
Auda Guatemala
Was a small ONG who has been active in areas around Lake Atitlan for a few years and have left the country.
Mayan Families mainly active on the north shore of Lake Atitlan. The organization is large and well organized with many contacts. Your donation will go far with Mayan Families; working efficiently and having a wide base of volunteers. (Fill in amount in "General" and submit) - 501(c)(3) status, tax deductable in U.S. [Facebook]
Amigos de Santa Cruz Foundation has set up a special Agatha Flood Relief fund. 100% of all money donated to this fund will be donated to help families in all the Santa Cruz villages made homeless by Agatha and most critically Jaibalito.
